PKR claims Felda chairman earns RM2 million
PETALING JAYA, August 14 – PKR vice-president Sivarasa Rasiah dared Tan Sri Mohd Yusof Nor to publicly disclose what he earned as Felda chairman, claiming it amounted RM2 million a year, including salaries and allowances.
PKR has previously accused that Felda will be bankrupt.
Recently more than 700 settlers from two Felda settlements have sued the federal agency for RM200 million for receiving six per cent less than they were due from palm oil extraction.
“I want to ask him (Mohd Yusof) how much did he make as Felda chairman which also controlled Felda subsidiary companies?
“Is it true or not that his income, including salaries and allowances, reaches up to RM2 million a year?” he told reporters at the PKR headquarters here.
He added that even if the allegations were just a rumour, it is important to public knowledge, especially the settlers.
“I just want to know yes or no, that’s all. So I am waiting for him (Mohd Yusof) to respond. This is because as the chairman of Felda, who also controls the subsidiary companies, he must have a very high income.
“That’s what I want to know, how much he actually makes each year. It is RM2 million,” he said.
Felda was established in 1956 to help the poor in a developing area.
It has grown since then and has 811.140 hectares of oil palm plantations, particularly in Malaysia, with operations also in Indonesia.
